 In following and obeying Jesus, we are called to be in close fellowship with other believers. It means being a committed member of Christ's church. The idea of fellowship, or "koinonia" in Greek, is having communion, communication, and community with one another in and through a relationship with Jesus Christ. The best expression of fellowship is that of a family. The church is the family of God, called together through the saving work of Jesus Christ. The Christian life is not just a matter of believing. It is matter of belonging, and you and I must choose to belong. Fellowship begins with belonging, with making that commitment. Just as God wants you to identify with Christ by believing, God wants you to belong to a local body of believers and to be a part of His family.
