Our church has a vibrant woman’s ministry. We believe that women have unique gifts and needs. Our goal is to help women grow in their relationship with Jesus and to make a difference in our world. Throughout the year there are a number of events aimed at connecting women together and supporting each other as we seek God.
Our annual Women’s Springtime Tea has become our signature event. This morning of high tea is filled with great food and fellowship and features a special woman who shares her story.
Operation Christmas Child starts in November, when the Women’s Ministry gathers empty shoeboxes and everyone brings gifts to fill boxes during a work party. These filled shoeboxes are then sent to Samaritan’s Purse, which distributes them around the world to needy children.
During the first week of December the Women’s Ministry sponsors a Christmas boutique where many of our church artisans present their creations for sale, with the proceeds going to a mission project.
Our Christmas Ornament exchange which is usually held on the Saturday before Christmas is lots of fun. The women are asked to bring a wrapped ornament that cost a minimum of $5. After a hearty breakfast the game begins – each woman picks a number to establish eh order in which she may pick a wrapped ornament, or steal one from one of the other women. There are always some highly coveted, unique ornaments which pass though many hands, resulting in spirited and lively interaction and a fun time for all.
In January the Women’s Ministry plans a special “Getting to know you” lunch for the new women of the church. We also encourage attendance at the annual Women of Faith Conference held in Anaheim and sometimes plan our own women’s retreat, or attend a women’s retreat at Forest Home Christian Conference Center.
